Merry Christmas to you and yours!

On November 29th we went with the Bauțar youth to a cake festival hosted by a church in Caransebeș. The Bible skit Sorin wrote was well performed by the youth group and communicated the message of living courageously for Christ. We took 4th place with our lighted, fortress, chocolate cake, which symbolized being a light to the world – for a city on a hill cannot be hidden. A week after the event those from our church in Bautar wanted to see the play, so we presented it to the church one Sunday evening.

The choir concert held on December 13th at the church in Bauțar was a wonderful evening of worship. Each person in this start up choir worked hard to learn their parts and sing for the Lord. David directed the choir and Amina and Anna each played five songs on the piano to accompany the voices. We are very proud of the girls’ hard work in learning and preparing these pieces for the concert. At the end of the concert a young man, to whom David ministered a number of years ago, gave an encouraging and challenging message to come to the manager to worship Christ the Lord.

God is working in the children’s ministry and we have now created two groups to better minister to the various age groups of children. The past two weeks the Sunday school leaders have been preparing a Christmas play for the church. Amina, Anna, Nadia have been memorizing their lines at home and we pray that God will use this to help the children, their families, and the church grow in their faith. Last week our friend, Jony, from Golgotha Baptist Church flew out to Romania to serve and be with us during this Christmas season. He quickly learned some songs (two days after arriving) and sang with the Bauțar choir at a concert in a nearby village. He has already had three opportunities to share from God’s Word at youth groups and at a church service. The youth (and my family!) enjoy being with him and we have more ministry and youth events planned during his three week stay.

Catalina has been hard at work this past month through planning, organizing, and implementing discipleship and encouragement events for the church. She held a gathering at our house for the young ladies in the youth group, and Sorin’s fiancée, Liuba, shared a message about God’s joy for us. Catalina also held a woman’s tea and testimony gathering at the church last week. These fellowship times create opportunities for women to use their gifts in reaching others for Jesus, as well as bring healing in relationships with one another and growth in their relationship with God. David and the girls did a great job supporting with food preparation and serving the children so the women could have a special time together without distractions.

John's Birthday

Remember, God really loves Christmas because it is all about His Son. When we give our lives to the Lord, we learn to love Christmas like God does, making it all about Jesus.

Praise and Prayer Requests:
1. Thank you for your prayers for the Christmas concert on December 13th. Many in the village were blessed by music that honored the Lord.
2. We were able to separate the children into two classes so they can hear the Good News of Jesus at a level in which they can understand. Please pray for the upcoming children’s Christmas play, and for unity in the Sunday School classes at Bautar.
3. Pray for us that we will hear and implement the vision God has for His church here in Bauțar and the surrounding villages for this upcoming year.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year from our family to yours!

As we reflect over this past year and look forward to a time of new beginnings, we are filled with gratitude for the many blessings we’ve experienced and the support we’ve received from family and friends. A few days before Christmas, our family moved into our house in Bautar, Romania and began a new season of ministry. Our kids held parts in the church Christmas play, which they performed in two villages, and the three older girls and John memorized and recited Christmas bible passages from Matthew 1 and Luke 2 in Romanian. David shared sermons at church throughout the first couple days of Christmas, the following Sunday, and again on New Year’s Day. David & Catalina and Amina were also able to go caroling a few evenings with youth and couples from the villages while Grandma Maria watched the younger kids at home. Catalina continues to serve the family so well and found time to prepare large servings of food for the family and whomever joined us for meals.

Now that things are settling down from the holiday activities we will be planning and preparing with leaders in the area to best minister here among the people of Romania. Many of the pastors and (now adult) youth that I worked with years ago are excited to work together. Our hearts are eager to serve the Lord and to continue the work which He has called us.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support. We are humbled by the opportunity to serve in Romania once again and are excited to see what God will do in the months and coming years ahead.

God Bless,
The Roddy Family

Prayer requests:

–          Pray for unity and collaboration with church leaders in the area.

–          Pray we find a good van to purchase. We may travel to Germany to find what we need.

–          Pray that we will receive residency cards in a timely manner.

One of the key ways we fulfill our mission is through our discipleship programs. Through these programs, participants have the opportunity to engage in Bible study, prayer, worship, and fellowship with other believers. Our goal is to equip individuals with the knowledge and tools they need to live out their faith and make a positive impact in their communities.

Community Outreach

In addition to our discipleship programs, Living Hope International is actively involved in community outreach initiatives. We believe that serving others is an essential part of living out our faith and demonstrating the love of Christ. Some of our community outreach activities include:

  • Providing food and clothing to those in need
  • Offering educational support to underprivileged children
  • Organizing medical missions to provide healthcare to underserved areas
  • Partnering with local organizations to address social issues

Through these initiatives, we strive to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of individuals and communities. By showing love and compassion, we aim to create a lasting impact and bring hope to those who need it most.

Global Impact

While our primary focus is on Romania, Living Hope International also extends its reach to other parts of the world. We partner with like-minded organizations and churches to support missions and outreach efforts in various countries. By working together, we can make a greater impact and reach more people with the message of Christ’s love.

Through our global initiatives, we have been involved in projects such as disaster relief, clean water initiatives, and education programs in developing nations. Our goal is to bring hope and transformation to communities worldwide, ultimately leading individuals to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
